Matthew Sardelli, MD is a board certified orthopedic surgeon whom has been in practice since 2010. He recently started Sardelli Orthopedics, PLLC, an orthopedic and sports medicine practice, but has been caring for patients in the Flint area for over a decade prior to starting his own practice.
Dr. Sardelli graduated from Michigan State University in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in Physiology prior to completing his medical school training at Wayne State University in 2004. Dr. Sardelli completed his orthopedic training at the University of Utah in 2009 and went on to complete a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the TRIA Institute/University of Minnesota in 2010. Dr. Sardelli had the opportunity to care for athletes with the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Wild, and the Minnesota Twins while also caring for athletes at the University of Minnesota.
Since graduating from his fellowship Dr. Sardelli completed a Certificate of Additional Qualification (CAQ) in orthopedic sports medicine in 2016, the highest level of training for orthopedic sports medicine . He has had the privilege of caring for athletes of all ages and is the team physician for Fenton, Goodrich, Brandon, Davison, and Lapeer high schools. Dr. Sardelli also is the current team physician for the Flint City Bucks USL2 professional soccer team and former orthopedic consultant for the Flint Firebirds OHL hockey team.
Dr. Sardelli enjoys teaching and has trained medical students, orthopedic residents, as well as orthopedic surgeons throughout his career. He served as chairperson for the orthopedic department at McLaren Flint and assistant program director for the orthopedic residency program. He continues to teach residents at McLaren Oakland.
